Meet the Team

JIT is made up of a core team of staff based in Edinburgh and a wider group of experts throughout Scotland that supports the core team with practical, current experience in health and social care.

The wide range of knowledge and experience available within the wider JIT allows us to tailor our work programme to meet the specific needs of individual partnerships, and to ensure that we help provide practical solutions through our Intensive Support programmes and our Action Areas

We work closely with policy colleagues within the Scottish Government Health Department and other departments, COSLA, NHS Scotland, and other related improvement bodies to support joined-up working nationally and to help optimise the skills and experience available to support local partnerships.

The Joint Improvement Team, itself a partnership between the Scottish Government, COSLA and NHSScotland, is located within the Directorate for Health and Social Care Integration within the Scottish Government and based at St Andrew's House in Edinburgh.

The JIT is headed up by its Director, Margaret Whoriskey, and works with partnerships to focus on improving service outcomes through effective partnership working across health, housing and social care. Margaret brings her extensive experience as a clinician and senior manager with NHS Fife and in national roles with Scottish Health Advisory Service and latterly with NHS Quality Improvement Scotland. The work is supported and assisted by a policy, information and administration team based in Edinburgh.
