Community Capacity Building
To help ensure that community capacity building maintains a high profile in the Scottish Government's Reshaping Care for Older People Programme two secondees will take on a National Lead role for this area.
Gerry Power (Community Health Partnership General Manager in East and Midlothian) and Andrew Jackson (WRVS Media and Public Affairs Manager for Scotland) will focus on:
- Making available their joint expertise on specific approaches to community capacity building and co-production to all local health and social care partnerships across Scotland and helping to develop those approaches together with these partnerships.
- Work individually with different health and social care partnerships to support specific local community capacity building initiatives.
In particular this activity will support the implementation of the Reshaping Care for Older People Change Fund which was established in early 2011. It is envisaged that the community capacity building work will entail close working with established third sector organisations of all types and sizes and also with communities of both place and interest who wish to organise to support their members and partners in the statutory sector, particularly the NHS and Local Authorities.
