Using Outcomes Data
As work has continued on implementing Talking Points, efforts have concentrated on managing and using both the qualitative and quantitative data generated through using the approach. You can find other examples of how information on outcomes has been reported in the section on evidence, under evidence from practice. In this section you can find a recent report highlighting a range of ways outcomes information is being used as well as guidance and tools to support use of outcomes data. There is also a section at the end specifically on performance management.
Using Talking Points Data
During Summer 2010 we worked with partnerships and providers to identify how Talking Points data is being used in practice. This update report highlights some key examples:
Talking Points Update: June 2010 [151Kb]
Earlier draft guidance on data management from different perspectives was produced with partnerships during 2009:

Managing Qualitative Outcomes Data
In March 2008 a workshop was held for pilots looking at how to manage the qualitative data generated by Talking Points.

Midlothian are also working on a traffic light system to manage their data.

Staff in Angus and SW Glasgow both developed excel spreadsheets to support the analysis of data on outcomes which are available.

Following from this, and reviewed over subsequent months, guidance was produced to support analysis of qualitative data produced by focusing on user and carer outcomes.
A further workshop on qualitative data management was held in June 2009. The focus was on hands on experience of qualitative analysis.

Managing Data
Further workshops were held in 2008 to continue work with pilot sites on sharing learning, identifying what worked and with a view to developing a level of consistency in the approach adopted.
