JIT Summer 2013 Newsletter
During the first half of 2013, we held the second Co-production and Community Capacity Building Conference, which you can still view online, and published a series of good practice case studies of local partnerships efforts to build capacity in their communities – you can read more about them in the newsletter.
We have also staged a highly successful conference on joint strategic commissioning – ‘Delivering our Ambitions’ – which showed some very positive observations about the position of local partnerships with developing Joint Strategic Commissioning, a lot of encouraging good practice references we can draw on, and a lot of support and assistance available to help with capacity and practice. The event demonstrated we are now taking this agenda seriously, but recognised that we must now drive it forward with confidence and enthusiasm.
In the last newsletter, we mentioned that as a result of a short ‘stock-take’ review of the JIT by the Improvement Service, we were to have a governing Board. The newly-formed Joint Improvement Partnership Board, which is made up of senior executives from the Third Sector, the Independent Sector, the NHS, Local Authorities, the Housing Sector, Scottish Government and CoSLA, met for the first time in April, and have their first full Board meeting at the end of May. We very much look forward to working with our new Chair, Professor Jim McGoldrick, and the rest of the Board as Scotland moves forward with Health & Social Care Integration.
Talking of integration, the JIT recently undertook an informal enquiry on progress being made by local partnerships in preparing for integration. The exercise aimed to reflect the position of partnerships at a point in time in their journey towards health and social care integration, to identify progress and any examples of good practice which partnership would be happy to share, and to identify any support needs going forward. The report is now available on our website.
