A Systematic Narrative Review of Quality Improvement Models in Health Care
Recognition of actual and potential deficits in quality in health care in the past two decades has prompted health care organisations to introduce a wide range of initiatives and programmes. Many of these approaches have drawn on quality improvement models which originated outside health care. This systematic narrative review seeks to understand what approaches exist, their relative strengths and weaknesses when used to inform quality improvement in health care, and their potential for application for the organisations that make up NHSScotland.

The Framework will impact in key areas such as the prevention of unnecessary admissions, better identification and management of the ‘at risk’ population, safe early discharge, the prevention of dependency on care services and the health benefits of returning to work. The Framework is also integral to the implementation of the Strategy for Community Hospitals and Shifting the Balance of Care.

Intermediate Care in Scotland: A Partnership Approach - Scoping Report
The participants of the Intermediate Care Learning Network have shared information about the current developments in intermediate care within their own services and areas. The purpose of this information is to inform policy makers, planners and practitioners about the range of work currently underway. The report does not attempt to provide a comprehensive view of all the services that might conceivably be included in Intermediate Care. This report describes the activities and outcomes but does not evaluate the effectiveness of any individual project.
